Sports psychology tips for playing against a weaker team.
I am sure you watched Olympic Games on TV and saw underdog teams surprising the clear favorites. One example of this was when the US men’s hockey team beat a clear favorite, the Canadian hockey team in the preliminary round.
How to play against a weaker team?
1. Do not take an underdog team too lightly or set expectations about who should win.
2. Always put a real effort to design a game plan or strategy.
3. Get excited and be passionate to compete. Without intensity you are not able to focus 100% to the game, which leads to bad performance.

We found a nice article about Children's Self Esteem.
Recommendations for Building Self-esteem of Children:
* Love them regardless of how they perform.
* Give them opportunities to demonstrate their competence.
* Focus on areas over which they have control (e.g., their efforts rather than results).
* Encourage your children to take appropriate risks.
* Allow your children to experience failure and then help them learn its essential lessons.
* Set expectations for their behavior.
* Demand accountability.
* Have consequences for bad behavior.
* Include them in decision making.

What is talent?
This article is not an easy read, but try to read at least the bold sentences:
“Psychologist K. Anders Ericsson strongly suggests that skill emerges out of deliberate practice rather than being born in a person.”
“Ericsson’s research suggests very strongly that what is really in short supply in the cultivation of expert performance is not initial ability, but rather expert coaching and motivation to continually develop greater skill.”
I hope this article gives motivation for the coaches and players to keep practicing.

Take a look at this video. Would you like to improve your volleyball skills with a robot?
Well, maybe this is not for serious volleyball training, but probably we don’t have to wait too much longer to play picnic or backyard volleyball against a robot..
